CocoCay, Bahamas

Island Bar

On the far side of the island, away from the swimming and play areas, you will fine a nice bar and quiet cabanas and umbrellas and lounge chairs...and quiet.

This is a Royal Caribbean stop, but I am sure other cruise lines have their own unique islands with quiet places to enjoy a smoke.

The tender brings passengers into a cove past a delightful mermaid. After bbq and a marguarita are picked up, I trek to the far side of the island for peace and quiet. Ouch. The world changed. My writing table is gone, but lots of lounge chairs and cabanas have been added.

I sit at the railing watching the blue sea and puffy clouds; there, I enjoy my Perdomo Patriarch (protected for that moment by Vanderburgh One, a single stick humidor), meet a young German couple from near Frankfurt, and discuss cigars and books and poetry. Par for the course in ideas and inspiration; two poems generated, but I expect more are simmering.
